underwater photography & videography courses

Underwater photography and videography courses lead by our onboard pro are available on all liveaboard dive voyages.

Photo and video courses aboard the liveaboard consist of three components. Academic instruction, UW Coaching and Post Dive Critiques.

Academic sessions are held in the Cheng Ho TV lounge and cover applicable theory and techniques with plenty of real world examples.
Coached dives give you UW help in setting up your shots and evaluating the results.
Critique sessions after the dive address both technical and artistic issues of your photos.

Frequently courses are taught one on one and courses are always customized to the students needs, equipment and existing knowledge.

basic u/w digital photography

One day course for “Point and Shoot” UW digital cameras includes 1 hr. lecture on UW Photo basics, 2 dives (not coached) and photo critique.

advanced u/w digital photography, macro or wide angle

One day course for DSLR UW digital cameras includes two 1 hr. lecture sessions on UW Photo basics and either Macro or WA photography, 2 dives (one coached, one independent) and critique of photos.

Course cost (your own equipment) $US 125.00

advanced u/w digital photography, full course

Three day course for DSLR UW digital cameras includes four 1 hr lecture sessions on UW Photo basics, Macro, WA special conditions and composition, 4 dives (two coached, two independent) and critique of photos.

Course cost (your own equipment) $US 200.00

Two day course includes three 1 hr lecture sessions on UW Video basics, Video Shooting techniques, Getting good color, Macro and WA , 4 dives (two coached, two independent) and critique of video.

This course is currently only available with your own equipment.

u/w digital video editing

One day course includes two 1 hr lecture sessions on Editing Basics, Work Flow, Production Planning, Music selection, Soundtrack Production and DVD output. This course is taught with Apple Final Cut Pro. Note for PC users: This software is not available for Windows computers, but the techniques covered are also applicable to Media 100, Avid and Adobe Premier software.

u/w digital videography production

Three day course is a combination of the UW Digital Videography course and the UW Digital Video Editing course. The goal of this course is to use your footage shot during the UW Videography portion of the course to complete a finished 5-6 minute production during the editing portion of the course.
