diving from the liveaboard

Scuba Diving has never been easier from the comfort of Kararu's live aboard. Following is practical information on diving procedures and dive education available while on board. New on board, NITROX!

scuba diving procedures

Diving from Kararu Dive Voyages liveaboard is from one of two 6 m by 2.50 m unsinkable aluminium tenders. The seating capacity fits 8 divers comfortably. A simple back roll is done to enter the water. A ladder is used for re-entry into the tender after the dive.

Scuba divers only need to set up their gear one time at the beginning of each trip. Each scuba diver has his own individual dive station complete with cubby hole for storage. Our 6 cylinder air bank system will ensure that tank filling is done without ever hearing the compressor while on the liveaboard.

Guests can choose to dive on air or NITROX.

Our 19 crew members will assist you into your dive gear prior to the dive, carry your tank to the tender (if desired), and help you into and out of the water for your dive.

A detailed dive briefing is made by one of our western dive masters prior to each dive.

Dive time is unlimited. However, Kararu does not encourage decompression diving as most dive destinations are a long way from the nearest recompression chamber.

Irian Jaya - closest recompression chamber, Darwin, Australia

Komodo - closest recompression chamber, Bali, Indonesia

Alor - closest recompression chamber Bali, Indonesia

Helicopter medi-vac service is available 24 hours in case of emergencies. Please ensure that your insurance is up to date.

The liveaboard trips offer 3 - 5 dives per day.

The liveaboard is equipped with 30 Aluminium 12 Litre Tanks

Adapters for DIN - INT connections are available.

After the last dive of the liveaboard trip, all gear will be washed and rinsed by Kararu's 19 crew member.
